    Ruby on Rails

    Vishwa — Vishwajeetsingh Desurkar — is a Ruby on Rails engineer based in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Everything Ruby and Rails in one place: the gems, the conference talks, the writing, and the communities.

    What I work on

    I work across Ruby on Rails, machine-learning tooling, and cloud architecture.

    Ruby gems I maintain

    Both MIT-licensed and framework-agnostic — neither is a Rails engine.

    payu-ruby

    v0.2.0 · MIT · Ruby >= 3.1 · released 19 July 2026

    Ruby client for the PayU India payment gateway — hash generation, payment params, server-to-server verification, refunds. Framework-agnostic; works with Rails, Sinatra, or plain Ruby. Zero runtime dependencies.

    trainers-rb

    v0.1.1 · MIT · Ruby >= 3.1 · released 9 June 2026

    Training loop, LoRA, LR scheduling, callbacks and safetensors serialization for fine-tuning HuggingFace transformer models. Built on torch-rb and transformers-rb. Early — 0.1.x.

    Ruby and machine learning

    Bringing model training into Ruby rather than shelling out to Python.

    trainers-rb

    A Ruby library for fine-tuning HuggingFace transformer models — training loop, LoRA, LR scheduling, callbacks and safetensors serialization, built on torch-rb and transformers-rb. It is early, at 0.1.x.

    Three of my conference talks cover this ground: “What If… Ruby Led the AI Revolution?” at RubyConf India 2025, and “Connecting the Dots: Unleash the magic of AI in IoT” at both RubyConf India 2023 and Conf42 Internet of Things.
